I just finished 2034 by Bruno beaches, let's talk about it!
What happens when the social credit score replaces cash? The dividing of society. Those who refused to be vaccinated and microchipped are shunned and have no place in the new world. Those with no credit score end up in the ghetto and if you don’t do the right thing at every moment of every day, you will quickly lose your score…
But who is worse off? The people who live outside of the safety of the city? Hunting for real meat and living in a community with kids but always have the fear of drones?
Or are the people in the safe zones? Eating lab meat and always being watched by the elites? Always mindful of doing what the elites deem the right thing? Where are all the kids? Where did humanity go?
This book was too close to real life for my liking but I couldn’t put it down. A fantastic ride into a future that could be our reality in the next few years. I kind of liked the distance the author put between the reader and the characters in it. They took humanity out of being able to relate to the characters in much the same way the elites do to humans in the book. Such a mind trip and I found the technique to be quite effective. Cleverly piecing together and seeing both worlds and the pros and cons of both, really was an eye opener to how the world could really go if the 2030 agenda is met.
I certainly know what side of the wall I would choose, I wonder what side the rest of humanity will choose?
The book was left, not with a cliffhanger per se but with an opening for a sequel which I do hope to see in the future.
4.5 stars rounded to 5 for goodreads. Really impressed with the writing and elevation of creating a dystopian world that felt realistic and fantastical all rolled into one. It can be difficult to create realism in this genre but the author nailed it.
Thank you @brunobeaches for the opportunity to read this book and I am excited to see what else you have!
